WOOOOOOOOOOOOW This is one of the greatest techniques you have showed us yet! I'm allready loving this exclusive content.
However a few questions come to mind: Does this require any special airbrush cleaning? do you apply any varnish before this technique? And would this be useful on big hordes like zombies?
Thanks a lot man this is an awesome technique.

I clean an airbrush with alcohol. It is enough to clean it out.
I usually use varnish. On each of my models there are a few coats painted in the various moments.
Painting zombies, tyranids, undead with this technique is very easy, fast and gives great results.

on 8:30 you say "where painted with filters and dirty finger technique". With dirty finger, do you meen that you remove the top parts with your fingers to highlight the model? Or did you actually apply some paint or something to your finger to sort of fingerpaint the model?
Rest of the video was clear and helpfull! Not sure on what model I can use it that I have right now, but really like new techniques :).

the finger is used to remove paint.

Great tutorial, as always, but I've got a question: Why do you prefer solvent based washes, instead of water based ones? Are there big differences between their airbrush performances?

How much time does it take for a filter to dry.

I have the same question with endiblado.
I tried the oil filters for the first time myself with excellent results! At the same time with a problem. I applied an acrylic satin varnish after 1 hour and the varnish did not stick to the model surface, but could be removed like a membrane off the model. I suppose this is to the fact that the oil has not dried completely and the acrylic varnish did not stick to anything.
Jaroslaw, how long do you leave the model from applying the last oil filter to varnishing the model?

What I have seen on other tutorials is to leave the model for 24 hours and then spray the varnish

you use water with oil color to create a oil wash or what? thanks ^^
thaddeusZarkov2013-10-20 10:50:55
Dk_cecio water(normal) and oil(normal) dont mix well, but not sure of exactly composition of oil colors.
You can try Destilled Water instead of normal water.
Usually you can buy it in cleaning section of Markets.

I suppose that is like painting with oil colors, you need much time to dry but the result is gorgeous. At least is like the oil wash on Vallejo liquid gold paint range!
24h...i'm curious about doing this on Space Hulk genestealer.
