glue

This seems like such a mundane topic, but I'm really curious about the specific plastic and super glues that you use.

The plastic glue seems to set (or at least a basic hold) super-fast. More importantly though I really like the applicators--the metal tube for plastic & brush for super glue.

I haven't been able to anything like these. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Your local hobby shop, may be more fast response, you can use "Pattex" o "Rewell" or whatever you can find with "special plastic glue" whit the needle to make precise amounts of glue.

In other way, i think its more useful a most extended tutorial, like when and how to use the metal, plastic, wood, and any other material especific glues.

And also i can add a litle use guidance, thinners or cleaners for glues, like "never mix loctite/cianoacrilato whit alcohol".

Thanks, and excuse my english not was my mother language.

Hi,

I use Revel Contacta Prosessional. Check out Revel website to find local country distributor.
Super Glue with a brush is a Technicoll product.

I normally don't endorse the use of GW hobby products (they're overpriced rubbish) but their superglue comes in a small container that has a built in brush, and has generally behaved well for me. You can get a larger bottle for less money at a home improvement stores, but none actually have the built in brush.

As for plastic glue I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend what Jaro uses; Revell Contacta professional. It sets very quickly, and dispenses cleanly. It is exceptional. I have used the GW plastic glue and it is absolutely, hands down, the worst plastic glue I have ever used. Testors plastic glue is acceptable, but has a plastic applicator that gums up often.

As a side note, if you live in the States, you'll have a hard time finding Revell contacta professional. I had to order it from UK ebay and have it shipped. definitely worth it, though.

Well, it shows how everything is subjective because of all the plastic glues I've used, I've found GW's the best by far! Overpriced, but it's lasted me longer without the tube clogging than any of the others I've tried.

I do find Revell Contacta good as well though.

Loctite do a superglue that comes with a brush applicator that you can buy in hardware stores.

Testor's "Model Master" glue is comparable to Contacta Professional.

I was in Hobbycraft (UK) getting some other stuff and bought a couple of their cheap Super Strong glue (?1) for emergencies and was pleasantly surprised to find these had a brush applicator

I tried just about every plastic glue I could lay my hands on in the states.

After comparing ease of use, application, waste, cost etc.

I am on my second order to europe for the Revell Contacta Professional...

Yes its a bit pricier that way but compared to what I spend on models its a drop in the bucket. Why skimp a couple of bucks on good glue when the model costs a 100+ $.
