August mini poll

shorey 2013-08-20 15:48:00
Hi everyone, just felt like getting the ball rolling. I would like to make my vote for the Vampire Counts Black Knights. It would be really cool to see how a verdigris effect can be achieved. Cheers

Hello

Im new here. I had a break from the hobby for 10 years but now I want to take it to the next level. "Buypainted" helped me a lot in getting started again and getting me into airbrushing...thanks!

I would like to se some unconvensional stuff/color schemes?

Forgeworld avatar?

Grey-green orcs?

battle damage on space marines/infanry?
Stickman 2013-08-28 08:56:35
I'd just like to see something, anything! So far, may as well just have kept watching YouTube, frankly.
billykrush 2013-08-29 14:32:25
You don't get to see all the Riptide and Wraith Knight surely on Youtube right?

@ Stickman- each of the exclusive videos so far have been in total 5 times longer than most previous BP videos, that takes much more effort and also they are of same high quality throughout. I am sure we will be rewarded more in the times ahead. This site is about support
billykrush 2013-08-30 12:19:47
absolutely correct.
Its like 30 bucks or what ever... if it helps him do what he does i'm cool with that.
I've learnt a bucket load of stuff from Jaro just from watching him.
Especially in the way he prepares models/parts for airbrushing.
Brilliant.
Just wish I had seen some videos BEFORE i had started to paint/assemble some of my minis... would have saved me some headaches for sure!

Time to give back a little.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I signed up and paid my money to help the guy. His tutorials are second to none.

What I mean (and this was probably the wrong thread) is that just putting SOMETHING up would be a good idea. Not necessarily a long, involved tutorial but how about an update or even just a forum post saying there wasn't going to be anything added to the site for a month?

Not really too much to ask. I'd pay my sub all over again, but if you're going to run a sub based service you need to think about your customers.

Sorry that's negative but just saying what I think.

I feel the same way as Stickman. We were getting posts every couple of days on yt. One tutorial a month will not going to cut it, really.
shorey 2013-09-02 10:15:40
Well whilst I agree with you that it would be good to have some sort of communication in the meantime, there is I am sure a good reason for no posts in 21 days, not even near a month yet. Jaro did this for I don't know well over a year for free to a very high standard, with consistency, always with new techniques, variety, thoughtful hobby advice for new or uninitiated and without ever letting too much time lapse between without communication. The fact that you are sacrificing one coffee a month to see this continue doesn't even warrant a second thought. Lets wait and see.

Have to agree with STICKMAN, I signed up because Jaro's tutorials helped me become a better painter, and I wanted to support his newest endeavor, but the total lack of communication is absolutely unacceptable.

I understand that the events of everyday life can interfere with plans, and have obviously caused delays in content upload, but it doesn't excuse the absence of communication. A simple 2 sentence post would go a long way to providing the subscribers the explanation they deserve.

It would be childish to complain about lack of content or updates when everything was provided for free on youtube, but once the paywall went up, and money was exchanged, Jaro took on a responsibility to his subscribers.

When the site first went up and there was a week's delay, Jaro sent out an email notification explaining the issues. It has been nearly a month since the last update to the site, and there's been no communication at all.

Well I actually think you are jumping the gun with your position as it has only been three weeks today since the last video was put up, and there has been this distance between videos in the past, albeit infrequently. Instead of unacceptable, why not think about what might be actually be the cause of the comm. silence. I am sure we'll be back on track when whatever it is, is solved.
