hi, i hope you guys can help, i am wanting to paint a tyranid bio titan for a friend as a surprise, he has next to no time to work on his painting due to his work and family having health problems, he really likes the paint scheme on the forgeworld site, but im unsure how to go about painting it, can you guys give me any ideas please, i currently use the last lot of citadel paints and some of the new citadel paints, i also use vallejo model air and have the best part of a full set of them, and liquid gold paints, i dont mind buying paints to help do the job, but if i dont have to buy 2 many that would help.
thank you in advance for the time and help.

I'd follow the basic steps outline in all "Buy Painted" videos.

1. because it's resin, use aerosol spray primer
2. base coat using the airbrush
3. oil wash using black or dark green
4. drybrush
5. edge detail

yes, just some ideas on the base colours and highlights for the skin and stuff, i dont mind if its GW paints or VMA, i just need some ideas, i have primed the model and was looking at the pictures and i think i have some ideas for the arms and armour plates, all look like they are dark greens / black green and for the armour plates black green with a little extra black for taste, ill do some testing on my own stuff and see how it goes, any ideas for the highlights and mid tones would be great.

Hey man

Here are some colors you could check out:

Greens:
- VAC Field green(shade/base)
- VAC Medium Olive(midtone)
- VAC Green zink chromate(highlights)

These are great green shades! They are "intense dull" colors!

Red/purple/blue:

VGC Hexed lichen(Shade/base)
VGC Warlord purple(midtone)
VGC Squid pink(highlights)

I like to base with the midtone and make a thin mix of the shadowcolor on top. Then go over with midcolor again leaving the shades aeras and then build your highlights.

On a final note: The bio titan on forgeworlds site have bone talons and legs...like everything else seems to be painted with bonewhite? I would go for something more insect/bug like. Bugs and animals that are dagerous/poisonous signals this with bright color of red, yellow, green! Bugs(tyranids) dont develop bone...its to heavy! They are made of something else bio-stuff!?
The praying mantis is unforgiving predator...look at his talons!

Just my take on things...good luck!

^ I agree with you about the bugs in our world...

However, this is a Phuturistic setting so anything goes.

Yes everything goes in 40K...no doubt, but think its cool to do things a little different than the masses!
40K is sci-fi on steroids, but I like some level of realism in this unrealistic universe!
