Titanium style exhaust tips.

Do you know of a way to achieve an effect like the burnt titanium exhaust tips popular on street cars and motorcycles? It is kind of a metallic iridescent blue color. Something like this.

Thanks for all the awesome info over the past year!

Hi WickedPaul, not sure if this helps and I'm sure Yaroslaw will have another brilliant tip as he always does (that's why we're all here!), but from memory the Imperial Armour Masterclass Vol. 1 book had a good write-up on this very topic. They basecoated in a typical silver (chainmail, then mithril), then used a series of very highly thinned washes of various colours to achieve a banding effect with smooth colour transitions.

Hope it helps :)

Hi!

First step is making chrome surface. File the part with sand paper 2000 grit and clean all dust.
Apply Humbrol Metal Cote - Chrome
Brush the surface to get a "mirror effect"

Appy washes - yellow, orange, red, blue, blue in order to acheive tis effect

Would love to see your take on this. Maybe on one of the upcoming Eldar models.
