airbrush overspray

Hi there.

I have been using a Harder and Steenback infinity airbrush for about two years now. This airbrush always seems to over spray a bit more then it should. I have had some friends use mine as well and they say the same thing. I have also used others and they don't seem to have much of a problem.

Do you have any ideas on what this could be? the nozzle? the airbrush its self? what could I do to prevent this?

thanks

Did you check if the needle is pushed enough through the nozzle? Gently press against the back of the needle when you "lock" it with the screw thingy.
If not, there will be air going through that should not go through witch might cause problems.

Is the needle bend?
is the nozzle damaged? (check if the round opening is still round and has no sharp edges)
is the airpresure set correctly?
is the airbrush CLEAN?

Nozzle guard, make sure it doesn't have a built up of paint on it. If it still happens, how thick is the paint?, PSI? ect.. thicker the paint higher PSI must be. Thinner it is lower you should spray at. Get an ultrasonic cleaner and clean it that way.

For an Iwata I would also suggest an ultrasonic cleaner (which I also have). The infinity however has alot of rubber o-rings which damage sooner when using an ultrasonic cleaner.

Therefore I would just use an infinity cleaning kit.

But that's just my opinion :)
